On Sunday morning South African's woke up to the devastating news that at least 17 people were reported to have died at a Tavern at Scenery Park in East London.
Unconfirmed reports at this stage are saying that most of the people who died are young people, with some reported to have been under the age of 18.

Reports coming from locals in the area the venue was fully to capacity as the people were attending an all black themed party celebrating 2 people's birthday, it is reported that late in the night when the owner of the tarven attempted to close the establishment for the day, but the people refused to leave.
It is then said that the owner in trying to force the party goers to leave, he sprayed something like teargas which then caused a stampede as they rushed for the exit. 
A twitter user by the name of Sisonke Mlamla shared a video on twitter, which allegedly showed the venue fully packed before the tragedy occurred. In the video people are seen dancing and enjoying the music in the fully packed venue, which looked like was very small to host a large number of people like that.
