According to the Gauteng Health Department, the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital fire, which was discovered in an empty parking lot, has apparently been extinguished. Level two parking was one area that was harmed by the fire that caused the hospital to close last year.

The organization said that because there was little risk of inhalation from the fire's smoke, it was unnecessary to remove the patients. According to Motalatale Modiba, who is speaking on behalf of the Gauteng Health Department, the hospital's regular activities are continuing while the cause of the incident is being investigated.
Security guards detected smoke that seemed to be emanating from one of the structures late on Tuesday night (05 July). Firefighters from the City of Johannesburg arrived on the scene almost enough and were able to limit the fire to a small area of level two parking. After the incident was reported to them, the Hillbrow SAPS also visited the location, according to Modiba.
