Crime Stats murder and hijacking statistics double digit increased in South Africa

Police minister Bheki Cele says the lack of proper infrastructure and environmental design in the country is contributing to the increasing crime rate.

Presenting the quarterly crime statistics on Friday, Cele said 6163 people were killed in South Africa between July and end of September 2021.

The latest crime stats also show the country has recorded an increase of kidnapping cases, with 445 more cases.

Crime Stats Cele says when he joined the police on their operations, he witnessed that they are working in the dark as most areas don’t have street lights.

He says some areas don’t have identifiable streets and house numbers, which makes it difficult for the police to identify where criminals disappear to.

Meanwhile national police commissioner, General Khehla Sithole says moral fibre and spiritual guidance has deteriorated in communities.

Crime Stats for South Africa recorded double digit increase since Bhek Cele became a minister of police, the stats clearly show the in capability of Cele to tackle crime and violent related cases.
