Money Heist took the world by storm and quickly became the most popular series on Netflix despite it not being an English-speaking series. It's a heist crime drama series created by Alex Pina.
And the heist is being led by The Professor [played by Alvaro Morte] in the Royal Mint of Spain. He gathers up his best criminals in the country that he could find. And one of the first smartest things he came up with was that the group should not call each other using their real identities, but with city names. Hence the characters are Berlin, Tokyo, Nairobi, Rio, Denver, Helsinki, Oslo, and Moscow. This helped when the released hostages were being asked questions about the kidnappers, their identities.. The hostages can only remember that the group called each other by city names. This made it hard for the cops to figure them out and find out who they really are.
The professor is a workaholic, the leader of the group or the gang who carefully plans and organises the assault on the Royal Mint and in the Bank of Spain.
He felt the desire to rob the Royal Mint as it was originally his grandfather's idea. He spent years and years trying to come up with the perfect plan. But he also had to track the best individuals to do the job and convince them.
He had everything planned out. He did his research on every situation, how the cops would react on whatever they would be doing. He knew exactly what to do to buy time and fool the cops on the first series.
Remember when they seemed to be trying to escape, but they threw money in the air and cops thought they were stuck in the Royal Mint, but it was exactly what they wanted to do? To be inside the Royal Mint and make everyone think that they are stuck. The Professor did that "to buy time".
It was a plan that worked because it really took the detective some time to finally figure it out. And she figured it out, a lot of time had been wasted.
The genius was not optimistic all the time. He understood that not everything can go according to plan. So he planned and taught the gang how to react when everything seems to be going south. There was a time where if you were watching, you felt like the gang is falling apart. The authorities finally found the identities of the gang. And they targeted the vulnerable one, the youngest one - Rio. The authorities offered to make him a deal. And it really seemed like the gang is now standing on one foot. But no. The professor had already told them how the cops would attack them, and the cops attached the group just as the professor said. This just goes to prove that The Professor did his homework and is a nerd.
The Professor was always one step ahead of the cops. The only thing that let him down was the gang. If they had stuck to The Professor's plan, the gang would have easily succeeded. They succeeded, yes. But if Tokyo had a little more faith in the Professor, she would not have committed t silly errors that almost cost the whole gang the money they were printing.
