In South Africa, it now seems like people can now do anything for money. Whenever an opportunity arises in which one can make a profit, they are bound to try to capitalize on it.
With opportunities hard to come by coupled with the desire to get rich quick, many no longer fear to engage in crime as long as their pockets get fat at the end of the day. Back in the day, only criminals would seek such opportunities but over the past few years, many have joined the wagon of those who profit from ill-gotten money.
Law enforcement agents have not shied from benefitting from crime as they are also being caught with their fingers dipped in the cookie jar. However, the arms of the law seem not to have respect of ones occupation.
In a report which was published by the SAfm News on the 27th of September 2021, one police official has found herself in leg irons. This follows hee alleged involvement in the murder of six people. The suspect is called Nomia Ndlovu and she made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
Upon her appearance in court, the jury postponed her case to the 14th of October 2021. The court heard that the suspect is said to have played a pivotal role in the killing of her boyfriend and five of her family members. All this in was done in order for her to fraudulently benefit from insurance claims amounting to over R1.4 million.
When the nation heard of the news, they were left wondering if there are any law abiding citizens in South Africa anymore. Almost each and every citizen is involved in some dirty deals of some sort. There is need to change the mentality of citizens as soon our prisons might be full.
