One thing about maridges nowadays is that they are no longer inspiring like how marriages were back then. Today’s marriages are full of killings and war. It is even scary how people who vowed to love and protect each other turn out to be enemies and kill each other. In most cases, this is caused by cheating and a love of money. Back then, we thought it was a norm when parents used to tell us to never marry in a community of property because it always ends in a bad way.
Today there is a sad story of killings that were caused by the marriage of community of property. A well-known Venda businessman who owns a multi-million security company killed his wife and then killed himself too. According to the reports, Edward Nelwondo, who owns a multi-million security company, broke up with his wife, with whom they have been together for many years.
After breaking up, he went to marry another wife, with whom they had been seeing each other for six months. After some time, he realized that she’s not the woman he wanted to be. They decided to divorce, only to find that they are married in community of property, meaning they have to split half of everything he has, including the multi-million dollar company.
After hearing that Edward couldn’t take it, he took out a gun and shot his wife dead and himself. It seems like marrying this woman was Edward’s biggest mistake because he fell out of love way too fast and he couldn’t bear the thought of seeing her enjoying his hard-earned money. People are warning us to avoid property marriage communities after this was shared on social media.
In my opinion, this was all karma. They say marriage is not an overnight plan; you have to take time to get to know someone before you get to marry them. Edward rushed to marry this woman before being sure of her. That is why the marriage didn’t last and it ended in tears. What’s your take on this? Was Edward right or wrong? How would you handle the situation if you were him?
