Alcohol is a beverage that many people in South Africa enjoy, however it's also one that can lead to bad situations. Because alcohol puts you in a altered state of mind, people can get addicted to it. However even though the Choice to drink alcohol is you own, one Black man claimed that Black people addicted to alcohol aren't to blame for it. Here's his opinions.
His video :
In his video recently posted to social media, which you can watch by clicking on the link below, the man gives many reasons why Black people are not at fault for being addicted to alcohol.
He starts by saying that many Black South Africans use alcohol to help deal with there past problems. He goes on to claim that alcohol companies target Black people in there advertising by using famous Black people and setting the scene in places where Black people usually are.
He says that alcohol companies come from other Countries and set up in South Africa specifically to target the Black Demographic. He finally says that because Black people have less access to things like therapy, they turn to alcohol.
Of course many South Africans took the opportunity to address this and heres what some people said in his comments section.
As we can see there are people who agree and disagree with him, however is he right.
The implications of this :
I believe that alcohol affects every race, However we cannot just blame this on the companies that produce alcohol or say that there are targeting certain groups of people. To make claims like this, evidence will have to be provided.
Instead I think that instead of passing blame we should help people dealing with alcoholism and show them a better way. Let's focus on the people.
What do you think of these observations, tell me in the comments section and follow for more lifestyle news as it happens.
