Although Onthatile Sebati's confession to police that, she ordered a hit on her family in 2016 provides some closure, it has also created more concerns for the grieving.

Onthatile recently confessed to police that she was responsible for the terrible murder of her family five years ago in Mmakau, near Brits in the North West.

Lt-Col Amanda Funani, a police spokesman, said Onthatile and her co-accused were arrested when Onthatile, who will turn 21 next week, went to the Mmakau police station and reportedly confessed to the crimes.

Her father, Constable Solomon Lucky Sebati, 41, her mother, Mmatshepo, 40, her 3-year-old brother Quinton, and her eight-month pregnant sister Tshegofatso, 22, were all killed by a gang at the time. Solomon's Chrysler Voyager, which was subsequently discovered abandoned, was used by the shooters to flee the scene.

According to authorities, Onthatile was outside when the armed gang broke into the house. She was shot as well when she got inside, but only received a flesh wound. She had told police that she had pretended to be dead in order to survive.

As a result, her surviving family members regarded her as a victim – the sole survivor of a gang assassination.

Molefe Tholo, Onthatile's cousin, said that the family was still reeling from the newest revelations and was attempting to process the information.

"We honestly saw her as the sole survivor of our loved ones' horrific murders and never suspected her of being the perpetrator." It's really difficult to take in all of this. We never imagined a child could harm her parents and siblings in this way. "This is something we never imagined," he remarked.

Tholo stated that the family still had many unanswered issues and hoped to receive answers soon.

"We're trying to figure out why she did this." "What was your motivation?" Tholo enquired.

One of Solomon's sisters is Tholo's mother.

His late uncle was regarded by him as a loving and caring father who raised his children in a Christian environment. Solomon, he said, was a cop as well as a preacher at the local 12th Apostolic Church. Tholo stated that he was well-liked in his neighborhood.

"He also employed roughly ten individuals in the neighborhood." He ran a funeral home as well as selling energy and airtime. All of those firms have closed their doors. Tholo added, "My uncle was a dedicated worker who always desired the best for his family."

Onthatile was a kind and attentive youngster, according to him, but her behavior altered after she entered high school.

"She grew defiant, and my uncle was constantly complaining about her behavior," he explained.

Onthatile, along with two other suspects she reportedly hired to carry out the killing, appeared in a Brits magistrate's court on Monday and was charged with five charges of murder.

Kagiso Mokone and Tumelo Mokone, both 23, are the other two suspects. Their case has been rescheduled for a formal bail application on Thursday.

"When you look at the ages of the two boys she's accused of hiring, it's clear that they were also quite young at the time they did this." They were in their early twenties. Tholo described the situation as "shocked and excruciating."

Tholo stated that they never accused Onthatile of being involved in the murders because she was under 15 at the time.

He did say, though, that they had noted some troubling behavior from her, but that they assumed it was her method of coping with bereavement.

"She became addicted to alcohol and was always drinking, but we dismissed it."What she went through was horrible," Tholo explained.

He said he couldn't say whether Onthatile's family would assist her in her impending court case or help pay for her bail if it was granted.
