After appearing in the Botshabelo Magistrate Court yesterday, a Police Clerk working in the exhibit store was arrested and charged with theft of cash and fraud. She was released on a bail of R1000.
The 40-year-old police officer from Botshabelo was apprehended after it was revealed that money given to her as an exhibit had vanished. The event was discovered during a routine store inspection.
When the money was supposed to be kept safe in the exhibit store, the suspect allegedly did not book it in and fraudulently fabricated an entry in the registers with fake register numbers.

Sergeant Elizabeth Khoathela, the suspect, was detained on the 29th of December 2021, and she appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate Court on December 30, when she was released on R1000 bail.
The case will be heard again in court on March 10, 2022.
