Police car Spiked, Firearm and Other Valuables Stolen in Pretoria.

A Tshwane Metropolitan officer was dispossessed of her firearm when her vehicle was spiked in the east of Pretoria on Friday morning.

According a statement released by The Tshwane metro police department spokesperson Senior Superintendent, Isaac Mahamba who stated that the incident happened around 06:00 am.

He said that a Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department member was on her way home after working the night shift when the incident happened.

“She got a tyre puncture as she was driving and approaching Rethabiseng along the R513 Road.

She pulled over and went to check what had already happened. She was approached by two men who stole her firearm, took all her belongings from the vehicle and left.”

Mahamba said the officer was not physically assaulted during the encounter.

"He further said that Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department condemns such criminality on our members.”

He said the TMPD is currently working very hard to combat the issue of car spiking, and was continuously monitoring all known and potential hotspots.

“It is unfortunate that one of our members fell victim to such criminality.

We appeal to members of the public who might have any information regarding this new trend of criminality to assist the TMPD by anonymously providing any information that may aid in arresting these criminals.”
