Sh0ck as 14 bodies are discovered in this South Africa township in just 48 hours

South Africa's crime rate is a serious cause for concern. But when 14 murders take place in a space of 48 hours in one township then it becomes something else. 

Up to 14 bodies were discovered in Walmer township in the a space of 48 hours. 

It is believed the victims were gunned down between last Thursday and on Saturday in the Airport Valley, Hlatini and Bhabhathane areas.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the murders to come forward.

Since August, The Herald has reported on multiple killings in Walmer suspected to be hit murders.

Top provincial detectives were deployed to Walmer and Airport Valley after these were identified as hotspots.

“There have been several murders and attempted murders reported this weekend in the Airport Valley and Walmer location areas,” police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.

“In most of the murders, the victims were shot. In some cases, they were robbed and shot while in others the [attackers] forcefully entered the shacks,” she said.
