According to eyewitnesses who were the first to arrive at the scene, a lot of people were burnt alive.
The eye witnesses added that they managed to rescue about 7 people before flames engulfed the whole area, burning all the people who had been trapped in both the bus and tanker.

If the numbers of passengers who were aboard the bus is confirmed, this is set to become one of the worst accidents ever to hit Zimbabwe.
