On Monday social media was abuzz after the ANC officially launched a 'stadium' in the Eastern Cape province. The Enoch Mgijima Municipality proudly celebrated the official opening of Lesseyton Sports Field. What left tongues wagging was the cost of the Sports Field. EFF Deputy President, Floyd Shivambu was one of the people who were left flabbergasted by the R15 million cost of the shabby project.
Numerous South Africans were infuriated by the disrespect by the governing party. According to angry citizens, R15 million was way too much for such shoddy work. To make matters worse, ANC officials dressed in the party regalia made a big deal and celebrated the opening. They went as far as cutting a ribbon in front of community members. If you are one of the people who thought R15 million was too much, wait until you hear what the actual cost for the 'stadium' was.
The contractor who erected that thing the ANC calls a stadium has listed the project at R22 million, not R15 million s said by the municipality. On it's website, under the completed project, Thalami Civils company stated the whooping amount and many have been left in more shock
Other projects undertaken by the same company in other municipalities include a community hall with costs amounting to R35 million and among others, a taxi rank to the value of R64 million. All these amounts are questionable if you ask me. More shocking revelation about the company is that in 2017, the contractor was arrested for stealing brinks to complete his other project.

All these other projects must be investigated as a lot is amiss here. Even the company website is raising eyebrows. All it says about the owner is that he is previously disadvantaged. He may be disadvantaged but that does not give him the right to loot like this. This construction company must release the architect's drawing plan of this stadium and the other sporting field they are going to construct, the R22m stadium doesnt look like it was done with a layout in hand.
