Kwa Zulu Natal Premier Warn of possible floods as Storm Intensify

URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE KZN PREMIER TO THE PEOPLE OF KWAZULU-NATAL AS THE STORM CONTINUES

A cold front has slammed the province of KwaZulu-Natal, as forecast by the weather authorities. We are currently receiving heavy rainfall, and some places are already facing floods.

We wish to issue warnings to all of our communities, particularly those in the Durban Basin, which includes uMlazi, Wentworth, Isipingo, Amanzimtoti, Westbrook, and uMdloti, Tongaat.

190 individuals have been evacuated from Tehuis to SJ Smith Hall as a result of the fire.

With the assistance of the SANDF, we are evacuating people from the Othongathi Waterways.

We urge residents living along river banks to keep an eye on the rivers and escape immediately if they become flooded.

The river is rising in Nelson, Alberta.

Anyone in a risk zone should leave immediately. We issue a call to all of our councillors to be on the ground and to provide information on any locations that require immediate attention.

We've also been warned about the snow falls, and that this severe weather will advance up the north coast starting tomorrow, hurting places like Richards Bay, Empangeni, and others. We are keeping an eye on the situation on the M7 and advise everyone to avoid the highways for the time being.

All disaster teams are on the ground, and we encourage everyone to participate because disaster management is everyone's responsibility.

Fortunately, the Defense Forces were present.

There have been road closures, and we are advising folks to be cautious and stay safe. If you live in a flood-prone location and are instructed to evacuate by authorities, please do so. We want to keep you safe.

All emergency systems are operational and ready to help you in the event of an emergency.

By phoning, you can reach the Disaster Operations Centre. 033 8973963 or 0664752308

Let's band together to overcome this dreadful circumstance, which is only pouring salt to the wound. Many lives have been lost.

Let us rescue lives and survive this catastrophe.
