Zimbabweans Who Lived In SA For Over 10 Years Should Be Given Permanent Residence.

Zimbabweans who have ZEPs in South Africa have been given until 31 December 2022 to leave South Africa as their ZEPs will expire on that same day. South Africans are however adamant to have them sent back home as they connect most crimes and unemployment to Zimbabweans

ZEP holders have probably lived in South Africa for over 10 years. They had started a life, have children this side who go to school and even have bank accounts and other accounts in South Africa. All these are things that will come to an end by the 31st of December this year.

The deportation of these Zimbabweans who hold ZEP will be unfair and unjust. This is because South Africans usually cry over the fact that illegal immigrants take their jobs and commit crimes. However, the ZEP holders are people that can be traced as their information is available on the Home Affairs system. The government and people of South Africa should only focus on illegal immigrants who cannot be traced in South Africa.

ZEP holders have had opportunity to find work and apply for other benefits in South Africa, taking this away from them will be painful and inhuman. They have atleast lived in South Africa for years and they should be given an opportunity to apply for permanent residency in South Africa.

People should not be pushed to drop everything and go back home just like that with nothing else to do there. South African government should atleast make a provision for these people to get permanent residency and only focus on illegal immigrants.
