Crime Justice

Theft robbery

"They stole my trolley that was full of groceries while I was having lunch at a restaurant "

South African people are brave. How can a person take someone's grocery without asking for permission? I do acknowledge that too many people are broke and they are doing everything to survive, but stealing is not an option.

Jessica was at Menlyn having lunch today when a heartless somebody came and stole her trolley that was full of groceries she had bought for her family. When she asked the people who were at the same restaurant as her they said they did not see anything.

Why is Pretoria full of criminals?

What you need to know is that Pretoria has been ranked as the third most dangerous city in the world by an international survey-based website - despite the national crime stats painting a different picture.

Due to poverty and deprivation, unstable living arrangements and inconsistent parenting, some South African children are exposed to risk factors which increase their chances of becoming involved in criminality and violence. The high levels of inequality, poverty, unemployment, social exclusion and marginalisation.

Even so it did not give these criminal(s) a right to steal Jessica's grocery.

It should come as no surprise that crime and violence remain so disturbingly high in South Africa. What is surprising is that there isn’t even more crime and violence considering how we have dealt with our violent past, that poverty and inequality continue to increase, and that we have failed as a country to secure confidence in and respect for the rule of law.
