
Gone are the days when public institutions were feared and respected by members of the society. Places like schools, churches and hospitals used to be sacred, but now have become high targets.
Health MEC in Limpopo Dr Phophi Ramathuba is angry and concerned by the attack and robbery that happened in the early hours of the morning at Sambandou Clinic in the Vhembe District. Two (2) security guards and 4 nurses were robbed by armed men.
According to reports the incident happened around 01h00 in the morning. A bakkie with three men arrived at the clinic pretending to seek medical attention.
The clinic is one of those that operate in a 24 hour call system. The armed men from the bakkie attacked two security guards, four female nurses and demanded the keys of the car which was parked in the clinic precinct.
After taking the keys they then tied the nurses up and flet the scene. The car has however been recovered.
The MEC has dispatched a team of psychologists to provide psychological support to the victims.
