POLICE are examining a homicide and endeavored murder case after two men were shot in Marikana vagrant camp while conveying bread to a store.

The occurrence occurred on Sheffield Road in Philippi East on Tuesday, 25 January, at around 11.50 am.

An inhabitant from the vagrant camp let Daily Sun know that the casualties wrongly visited the region without a police escort.

"Everybody realizes how perilous our region is.

"I don't have the foggiest idea why the casualties faced a challenge of coming here without being accompanied, I feel frustrated about them," said the occupant.

Another occupant, Masixole Sawutana (40), said individuals visiting the region expected to begin at the police headquarters.

"Philippi East is risky. Hooligans regularly ransack cabbies travelers and their travelers around here."

Chief FC van Wyk said cops got an objection to the shooting on Sheffield Road in Philippi East.

"At the point when they showed up at the scene, they found the body of a 31-year-old outsider on the asphalt with numerous shots wounds to his back and head.

"It was additionally settled that someone else was shot toward the back and taken to a close-by medical clinic.

"The casualties were conveying bread to a general store when they were assaulted by obscure men," Van Wyk told the People's Paper.
