A street vendor popularly known for selling cold drinks to people at the Imbali Taxi Rank has been gruesomely murdered by a security guard at Pietermaritzburg supermarket.

The street vendor was shot by the security guard after he went to the supermarket to order more goods.
"A street vendor who used to sell cold drinks at the Imbali Taxi Rank was shot and killed by a security guard at Pietermaritzburg supermarket. The man had gone to the supermarket to order more stock when he was shot in KZN."
Some aggrieved residents have started to protest against the unlawful killing of the street vendor.
