Lenasia, joburg South has been flooded, some snakes were found their way to people’s yards as well. Most people were passing the water as if they crossing some big river because the water was passing their waists, even cars were having a hard time to go through because of this flood. People killed some of those snakes that were inside their yards.

Flood is an overflow of water that submerges land that is usually dry. In the sense of “flowing water”, the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide.

What Causes a Flood?

Heavy rainfall.

Ocean waves coming on shore, such as a storm surge.

Melting snow and ice, as well as ice jams.

Dams or levees breaking.

Flood types

Flash floods.

Coastal floods.

Urban floods.

River (or fluvial) floods.

Ponding (or pluvial flooding)

Flash flooding occurs within 6 hours of the rain event. Flooding is a longer term event and may last a week or more. Flooding along rivers is a natural and inevitable part of life. Some floods occur seasonally when winter or spring rains, coupled with melting snows, fill river basins with too much water, too quickly.
