Western Cape| The Weather Office Has Warned Residents To Expect This Over The Next Two Days

The Western Cape Local Government Department says the Central Karoo and Garden Route districts received good rainfall after a storm made landfall in the area overnight. The weather office has warned of a major thunderstorm expected to impact the Garden Route, Karoo, Cape Winelands and Overberg regions of the province over the next two days. Local government spokesperson, James Brent-Styan:


“We've seen overnight rainfall measurements in places like Oudtshoorn where it has measured up to 52 mm, Ladysmith, which measured 57 mm, Beaufort West measured 14 mm, Laingsburg 21 mm. There are areas like Montague where rivers are streaming very strongly.”

Stay Safe During Thunderstorms And Lightning

-When thunder roars, go indoors! Move from outdoors into a building or car with a roof.

-Pay attention to alerts and warnings.

-Avoid using electronic devices connected to an electrical outlet.

-Avoid running water.

-Turn Around. Don't Drown! Do not drive through flooded roadways.
