Johannesburg – Twenty-one youths were found dead on Sunday at the Enyobeni bar, and the government of the Eastern Cape has verified that autopsies were performed on them and that samples have been sent to a lab in the Western Cape for inquiry. The EC administration announced in a brief statement to the media that the families have also decided to hold a mass funeral the following week.
As soon as we have the results of the investigation, we will give the report to the families that were affected.
It has been several hours, and the SAPS has not left the area. A mass funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 6, and preparations are already underway between the administration and the relatives of the deceased. After that, the families will decide where to bury their loved ones, and the bodies will be delivered there.
The administration has thanked people from all walks of life for helping them get ready for the funeral. You can count on Avbob to lend a hand. Each family will receive assistance with burial expenses from the funeral home.
Together with the provincial government, the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has cancelled the interment fees to ensure the victims receive a proper burial. Food coupons and food baskets were distributed to families on Wednesday.
Psychological and social services, such as community debriefings, are being provided to help individuals and groups deal with the loss.
