Six-year-old Girl Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident the day she Arrives on Holiday in Durban

Durban: Police are examining an instance of chargeable murder following a six-year-old was thumped dead on the M41 close to Mt Edgecombe on Thursday evening.

KZN police said the young lady was going across the M41 parkway in Mt Edgecombe at 2.51 pm when she was thumped by a vehicle.

"She was pronounced dead at the scene. The conditions encompassing the occurrence are being researched."

Prem Balram, from Reaction Unit SA, said their workplaces got numerous calls from passing drivers revealing the mishap.

"On landing in around 2.51 pm, surgeons surveyed the youngster and observed that she had been lethally harmed.

"The driver of a white Ford Bantam bakkie, who halted to help, informed Rusa individuals that a light engine vehicle going before him ran over the kid. The driver neglected to deliver help and ran away from the area.

"The expired's five-year-old cousin, who was with her at the hour of the episode, was not harmed.

"It was set up that the two youngsters were playing at a square of pads when they saw an orange rope lying on the northward path. They went across the bustling street trying to recover the rope when the mishap happened."

Balram said the youngster, who is from Pietermaritzburg, showed up at her auntie's home in Cornubia on Thursday and was relied upon to go through the school occasions with family members.
