Two City Ekurhuleni officials, Nelish Sigh and Andrew Mphushomadi, and businessman Velero David jailed for tender fraud amounting to R21.8 million, corruption and money laundering. Fleet of luxury cars and properties fortified to the State.
Business man, Velero David:
1. 10 years for tender fraud amounting to R21.8 million
2. 15 years for R12.6 million corruption
Former City Ekurhuleni’s IT executive Nelish Sigh:
1. 10 years for fraud
2. 15 years for corruption
Former City Ekurhuleni senior manager, Andrew Mphushomadi was given 10 years for money laundering, of which four was suspended. He received the proceeds of crime to the value of R3.3 million.
Two entities that were used to commission the crime, Meropa Sechabeng represented by David and Nanga Transport represented by Princes Dlongolo, wife of Mphushomadi, were each given R600 000 fine, suspended for five years. The outcome of the Pretoria speciaclised crimes court is the implementation of SIU investigation outcomes and consequence management.
