It is sad that , Corona virus still continue to kill lot of people across the world , another sad news is the passing of Dewa Mavhinga , who is the Southern Africa director at Human Rights Watch. He sadly passed away on Saturday due to Covid-19 complications .
Kenneth Roth who is an executive director of Human Right Watch , said Dewa Mavhinga was a highly effective human rights activists whose work made many people's lives across the Zimbabwe government to respect the right to protest in the face of economic hardship or ensuring that victims of human right in the whole of Southern Africa have access to Justice .
" We have lost a true gem , a treasure of a person and Collegue . We are devastated by Muvhinga's death " , said Mausi Segun who is an Africa director at Human Right Watch .
According to the source he has joined Human Right Watch back in 2012 , he joined as senior Zimbabwe researcher and he spent years documenting Human Right violations during the turbulent and violent final years of the late president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe government.
The news of his passing went viral on twitter , the news was broke by the Zimbabwe journalist Hopewell Chin'ono who tweeted that that " He was a great advocate for Human Right in Zimbabwe and beyond . A gentle giant who was facing political persecution".
It was said that he have travelled to the country for a funeral as well as other ceremony for a meternity clinic he was funding at his rural home .
