The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Tactical unit members have secured the successful arrest of one male suspect after he was found in possession of a vehicle which was hijacked in Sunnyside and an unlicensed firearm.
According to the intelligence Bureau South Africa news report, on Thursday, 30 June 2022 the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Tactical unit members followed up on information about a white Toyota quest which was reported to be hijacked in Sunnyside (Gauteng Province).
The vehicle was stopped in Olievenhoubosh and More information led officers to Jeppestown where the vehicle was found at a residence, a male suspect was immediately placed under arrest and the vehicle was thoroughly searched, police found an unlicensed firearm hidden underneath the driver's seat.
The suspect was questioned by officers and he revealed that he works for another male suspect who is also wanted by police for several crimes that include vehicle theft, investigation on the matter is still ongoing.
The suspect will soon make an appearance in court to face charges for possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.
