According to paramedics on the scene, a building in Durban's CBD is on fire, resulting in multiple casualties.
According to EMER-G-MED spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the fire was reported shortly after 10:00 a.m. at China Mall on West Street.
A spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services, Robert Mckenzie, confirmed there was a fire and that two fire trucks were on the scene. He went on to say that 11 people had been injured. Two of them had been taken to the hospital.
According to Van Reenen, who was present at the scene, paramedics saw people trapped inside the building breaking windows and attempting to climb out in order to escape the flames.

Paramedics are treating two people who were rescued from the upper floors. They are in fair condition. "It is believed that all occupants have been rescued, but final sweeps are being carried out floor by floor," Van Reenen said.
