The 26 year old Lonalinamandla Bawuti shakes the South African grounds once more. This is after she got her Facebook followers to donate towards the plight of a young boy from King William’s Town who wishes to go to the initiation school in December but because his parents are no more, there are no financial means at home to ensure he goes to the initiation school.
Bawuti took it upon herself to make the young boy’s dream become reality.
This isn’t the first time that the philanthropic ways of Bawuti have put her on the news. In 2020 she used her social media influence to grow the numbers of her sister’s fruit stall, an act that landed her name on The Daily Dispatch in an article by Ziyanda Zweni.
The home situation of the boy whom Lonalinamandla is raising funds for was brought to her attention by her cousin who had previously wrote for gospel singer,Betusile Mcinga, but Mcinga didn’t see the inbox.
Lona tagged Mcinga and he later sought his followers to also contribute towards the boy’s plight. He also promised to go sing a few of his songs at the boy’s umgidi.
Former PSL referee Ace Ncobo has also come to the rescue. He has vowed to pay for the boy’s driving school lessons, including his driver’s license. Not only that but he’s also arranged that the boy boy goes to spend a weekend with his cousin at The AbsoluteOn42 hotel for a weekend in a presidential suite.
Bawuti has raised over R95 413,85 in such a short span of time and the money is still going up and hopefully will reach and go beyond R100 000.
The even more beautiful thing about this story is that Lonalinamandla did not reveal the identity of the boy. In a screenshot conversation the boy had with Bawuti, the boy thanked her and said, “thank you so much, God bless you. If it wasn’t for you I would’ve had nothing”
