We have just entered by days into the festive season and Eskom has been faced with failing generation units in their power stations. Based on their latest media statement they have indicated that stage 2 Loadshedding will be implemented starting from 21:00pm until 05:00 on Monday. Join us as we unpack more of the story below.
They have furthered their statement to indicate that in Kusile and Medupi, there was failure in generation units and they have not returned to service as of yet. This means that it's highly possible that we will be moved to an advanced stage of the loadshedding should the problem persist. Part of that includes the fact that coal conveyors at Medupi are not working properly which reduces the amount of electricity needed to be produced.
The total breakdowns that are needed is 6 711MW in the period of three days. Eskom has continued to urge people to use electricity sparingly during this time and unplug all of their electrical appliances to prevent them from being damaged when the electricity returns. Do take note that the schedule may vary depending on the municipality you are situated in. You can visit their website for a live feed schedule.
