A fitness trainer who beat up his girlfriend after she spoke to her baby daddy has received bail.
Max Nyiki beat up his girlfriend to assault pulp in images that quickly went viral.
Kawa said on Monday that the alleged assault occurred at about 11pm after Nyiki became jealous that she was communicating with her daughter’s father.
Kawa said that before his arrest, Nyiki tried phoning her several times and sent numerous messages to apologise.
She said she had not seen Nyiki since and did not ever want to see him again.
Kawa claimed it was not the first time her boyfriend of three years had allegedly assaulted her.
Nyiki appeared briefly in court yesterday, where he was released on bail of R1,000.
He was ordered not to contact Kawa or any of the state witnesses.
He faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The case was postponed to August 22 for further investigation.
