It was reported that the robbers who attacked the bus driver and his passengers fled away with cellphones and a lot of money.
Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, Mpumalanga provincial commissioner said he was shocked and disappointed after the reports that three armed men robbed a bus driver and his passengers.
Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a Police spokesperson said the incident happened around 02:45.
"While waiting at Tweefontein A for passengers, three armed men boarded the bus. They threatened the driver and his passengers with firearms. They then robbed the driver of his bag, cellphone, staff card, and cash before firing two shots,” said Mohlala.
He said the men then robbed the passengers of their cash and cellphones. After robbing the passengers, they took the bus, drove it to a short distance parked the bus, and went away with the key.
The good thing is that no one was hurt in the incident and the police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
