The number of suicides is rising throughout the nation, and many of the victims are police officers. An increasing proportion of police officers struggle to deal with stress at work or issues in their personal life.
An attempted suicide by a police officer working at a tallying center is being looked into by police in Nakuru.
It happened in the Naivasha Sub-County.
According to reports, the officer, Corporal George Morara, was waiting to be taken to the Naivasha Sub-County tallying center with his colleagues.
The cop went to an adjacent room after leaving his coworkers at the administrative office.
Strangely, a gunshot was heard by Morara's coworkers coming from the room he had entered.
When the police arrived on the scene, they discovered Morara lifeless in a pool of blood. The bullet is said to have exited through the top portion of his chin after he allegedly shot himself in the chin.
The police officer was taken to the hospital urgently and placed in the emergency ward. According to reports, the cop is healing.
In order to bring mental health closer to the police personnel on the ground, counseling services should be delegated to the police station as the entry level. These policemen are more likely to encounter distressing events.
