A couple who happened to be police officials was ambushed and shot dead in Taylor's Halt just outside Pietermaritzburg. They were found whilst heading home from visiting their relatives, on their way back home that is where an ambush occured and resulted to their deaths.
One family member says their hazard lights were on when they approached the scene.
Bheki Cele said that the death of these two officers marks the loss of four officers within the month of February and this clearly means the police are under siege.
Cele said police officers do not have to die with their guns in hand, therefore, He has called officers to use their weapons in the line of duty.
Criminals have made a decision to be enemies of the state and should be treated as such, this calls for all police officers to be equipped to be forever vigilant wherever they are. The perpetrators of these murders will have to be found dead or alive and no stone will be left unturned until they are found Cele added.
