A fender bender has killed Khaya Somgqeza, the head of office of Deputy Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Phathekile Holomisa.
The occurrence happened outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on Friday, on the day that Johannesburg civic chairman Jolidee Matongo was being let go after he kicked the bucket in a fender bender last Saturday night in Gauteng.
Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola said Somgqeza's "less than ideal passing" had left him "profoundly disheartened".
"His demise has sent shockwaves in the service, just as the two offices under the service's initiative. Khaya Somgqeza had recently filled in as divisional director of International Relations in Parliament, prior to accepting his job as the top of Holomisa's office," he said.
As indicated by Lamola, Somgqeza was an accomplished community worker who executed his obligations with gigantic devotion and responsibility.
He said Somgqeza's obligation to his work and his immense involvement with discretion had improved relations between the service and its different partners.
With his sharp eye for detail, Somgqeza contributed fundamentally towards the service's command of making more secure networks in the country. His smart understanding will be painfully missed especially while examining different reports introduced before the service.
"We pass on our most profound sympathies to his loved ones and guarantee them that their misfortune is similarly our own as Somgqeza leaves a void that will be hard to fill", said Lamola.
