A young teenage girl was shot and killed just days before she could testify against her alleged rapist.
But instead of preparing for the court trial, relatives are now bust preparing for her funeral.
The 15-year-old, grade 9 learner from the Hague, in Delft was caught in the middle of a gang fight in Spitfire Circle, on Women’s Day while walking to a nearby shop.
Her sister told IOL that Aqeelah had been due to testify against the man who had raped her. She was raped when she was just 8 years old and the case was now heading for a finale.
She was set to testify today, Monday 15 August 2022, but that will not be happening.
