Maitland Flying Squad and private security collaborated to secure the successful arrest of four suspects aged between 19 and 36 for being in possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition in Driftsands, Mfuleni.
According to the saps news report, yesterday 6 February 2022 in the morning, members of the Maitland Flying Squad, K9 Unit and private security recieved information from a concerned community member about suspects who had hidden firearms in a bush, the members followed up on the information and went to search the bush in Driftsands, Mfuleni.
They found three unlicensed 9mm pistols with serial numbers filed off and ammunition, this lead to them securing the arrest of four suspects between the ages of 19 and 36 for being in possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition, the suspects will soon make an appearance at the Blue Downs Magistrates court to face the said charges.
Police commend the community member who gave up the information which assisted in securing the arrest of the suspects.
