On Wednesday, two individuals who were arrested in connection with the murder of Collins Chabane mayor Moses Maluleke withdrew their pleas for bail in the case. Shumani Nemadodzi, 47, and Avhatakali Mulaudzi, 42, appeared in Limpopo's Malamulele magistrate's court.
They are being charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Last month, Maluleke, also known as "Big Moss," was murdered in front of his home in Shikundu village, which is located outside of Malamulele, while he was with his son. The young man, who was 18 years old, was hurt.
Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the spokesman for the Limpopo NPA, stated that the matter was postponed to September 19 in order to allow for additional investigations. The police initially made three arrests, however one of the suspects was later released after it was determined that he could not be positively related to the crime.
