Counterfeit Goods Worth R7.4m Seized In Joburg CBD

Gauteng police claimed counterfeit products worth R7.4 million were seized during a search in the Johannesburg CBD. The products were confiscated by crime intelligence, public order policing, customs, and private security during operation O Kae Molao on Friday, according to police spokeswoman Col Dimakatso Sello. Three persons were detained.

The squad also detained 67 people for a variety of offenses, including drug possession, possession of a suspected stolen car, possession and dealing of illicit products, intoxicated driving, and dealing in liquor without a license. Among those detained were 11 illegal individuals and 33 wanted suspects for a variety of offenses including murder, armed robbery, theft, and assault GBH. Sello said.

A man was apprehended in Springs for trading in illegal cigarettes. According to Sello, cops recovered R100,000 worth of illegal cigarettes. On Monday, all apprehended suspects are likely to appear in various magistrates' courts. Johannesburg is one of the famous places where a lot of counterfeit items are sold it is like a black market.
