"He was killed and thrown in the river" police speak out about body of unknown man found dead

The body was found during a quest for a missing individual, yet isn't the individual who was being looked for.

The body of a man was recuperated from a stream in KwaZulu-Natal during a quest for another person.

Police representative Skipper Nqobile Gwala said the body was found in the Umvoti Waterway at around 09:00 on Monday.

As per IPSS Clinical Salvage spokesperson Paul Herbst, rescuers were looking for a missing individual in Groutville. The man, in his thirties, had been absent for three days and was accounted for missing by his family.

In the wake of finding fight checks and blood close to his home, a hunt of the space around his estate started. During the pursuit, two sniffer canines, K9 Odi and K9 Dante found a trail close to the waterway.

"The K9s and their overseers entered the stream and found the body of an obscure male. The body was not that of the missing individual," Herbst said.

The man found in the stream was a lot more established and the body was seriously decayed, added Herbst.

The body of the perished was given over to nearby police for examination.

"We can affirm that an examination agenda was opened at KwaDukuza police for examination," Gwala added. "The expired had no noticeable wounds."

The quest for the missing individual will proceed.
