Two(2) suspects robbed a lady of her mobile phone in Sidbury Road Plumstead at gunpoint. Zone Security officers who were notified and given a description, started an immediate search in the area. Within minutes of the search, the two were spotted and apprehended on Gabriel Road. The lady's phone was returned and the suspects were discovered to have used a replica firearm which was handed over to SAPS, it is quite clear that robbery suspects use anything just steal from victims.
The sad part is that you cannot even take chances when you suspect that the firearm is fake, because even if it is fake and you find out...they might be carrying a knife and end up killing you. It is only safer when you have your own firearm because you can use it to shoot them, especially if they are only two, as they are running away from you. You can just shoot and kill the robbers, you have the right to protect yourself and your belongings.
The woman was very fortunate that her cell phone was recovered on time because, when the suspects get to go where actually hide the items. It makes it very difficult for police to recover them, as the culprits would have concealed it somewhere. This is the main reason why it is very wise to report crime immediately after it happened, it makes it easier for the police or security company to find the criminals quicker.
South African citizens have noticed that we never really notice how security companies have been helpful in curbing crime. We are always praising police, even when we see that securities are the ones who actually caught the criminals and handed them over to the police. They deserve the credit because without them, areas wouldn't be safe. Some areas are very safe right now, because security companies are working 24/7 in order to get rid of criminals.
