If your electricity has not turned off already, I urge you to prepare for when it does. Start by putting your phone and other devices on charge. You may also be able to charge your phone in your car or with an external battery bank if you have one.
When the power goes off, remember to unplug or turn off all your appliances. This is to avoid power surges that may sometimes damage your appliances. Also remember to keep all the items you need for Loadshedding, like candles and matches in an easy to access location. Like a drawer in your kitchen or on your lounge table. So that you will be able to find them in the dark.
Prepare all your meals before the power turns off so you don't have to go hungry when loadshedding occurs. However if you don't have time too, you can always order take out. If you like to have hot drinks, you can keep water in a flask to have it hot and ready for you.
Remember that if you are using candles or gas lamps during the loadshedding period, you need to stay alert. These are fire hazards that can be dangerous if left near flammable objects or handled by children.
