OPINION | We thank God that these two men rescued from a trapped in the storm water pipe

Two men have been rescued after they were trapped in a storm water pipe while doing maintenance work under the Weltevreden Bridge across the R-300, near Mitchells Plain. The men who work for a private contractor, were overcome by hazardous vapours and collapsed. The City's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says firefighters and private and rescue services assisted in the dangerous rescue: "The Metro Rescue set up a quadpod with rope systems for a high anchor point above the opening. City fire fighters assisted with additional rope work for the hauling and lowering of the rescuer and patients. Both patients were in critical condition and taken to Vincent Palotti Hospital ~ SABCNEWS

Name the private contractor why give half the story when companies endanger lives by not following the law concerning safety the public has a right to know. And just wondering whether those guys has experience and trained for this type of work, yes private didnt gave their workers first oxygen masks to work in a dangerous underwater storm pipe, may they heal
