The story of Namhla Mthwa is heartbreaking as it is a testimony of how women are abused their whole lives.Namhla sent a devastating message to her sister highlighting the following:
In the message above , she did reveal that she had had enough and wanted to be out of the relationship before getting killed. She did reach out for help as she sensed she was in danger.
Unfortunately she was reportedly shot nine times last month , without getting the freedom she wanted .
It is heartbreaking to note how Namhla's freedom was taken away from her by her alleged boyfriend. The whatsapp conversations that were shared by Sanga Nozintaba showed how she was bullied , controlled and abused .There was noway out for the poor Namhla according to the WhatsApp text messages that were shared .She would even apologize for something she would not have done. She would have to ask for permission to be with her family .
Look at some of the conversations she had with her boyfriend:
It is sad that her freedom of movement was taken away from ber by someone who claimed to love her .In the above conversation with her man , she was seen asking for permission to go and have supper with her family.
When is this abuse against women going to end? When is this entitlement over women by men going to end ? Is justice going to intervene and let the victim get what she wanted ?
From the look of things , nothing is happening to bring the killer of Namhla Mthwa to book. There is no arrest that has been made and her killer continues to enjoy life somewhere in this world .
Why is the Police Minister Mr Bheki Cele quiet about this issue? Is it because Namhla Mthwa is not from a celebrity family? South African police need to do more .
