WHERE IS ZAMA? WHAT DID YOU DO WITH HER? Family Disarray As Boyfriend Arrested But Zama Missing

Zama Maphisi’s boyfriend has been arrested. But her family is still in the dark about her whereabouts – and her three-month-old baby still waits for her mommy to come home.

Zama disappeared after she travelled with her boyfriend to have breakfast in Mpumalanga on 28 September to sort out “problems” they were having in their relationship. The man is married and is said by his family to have other relationships.

He was arrested on Wednesday after a reader read the story of her disappearance in opera news and saw a video of her last happy moments before the fateful breakfast.

But before the police could question him about Zama’s whereabouts, the suspect tried to commit suicide by drinking poison.

The suspect was arrested in Mamelodi, Pretoria in the early hours of Wednesday where he was hiding at a brother’s home.

He was rushed to Tembisa hospital where he is receiving treatment under heavy police guard.

The suspect’s family have also been vocal since they saw the story, published on Tuesday.

The suspect’s sister Jeminah Mokoana said police must not be lenient toward her brother and they should get every single piece of information that would lead to finding Zama.

“He is the only person who knows where Zama is,” said Jeminah.

Jeminah said her brother has many girlfriends besides having a wife at home.

“I was worried when I read the story on Facebook with a video where I recognised my brother’s face. I prayed that the girlfriend would be found and be reunited with her children, especially the three-month-old baby,” said Jeminah.

“He must tell the police what happened and where he left Zama.”

Zama’s sister Tracy Sithole said police received an anonymous call from a person who knew about the suspect’s whereabouts.

“Apparently he used to park and leave his car at the mall in Mamelodi.”

Tracy said after receiving information that he was arrested and admitted to Tembisa hospital, the family went to the hospital to verify.

“At least we confirmed that he was arrested. We want him to speak and tell us where he left my sister,” she said.

“His attempt to commit suicide should be another charge against him. He is trying to leave us with many unanswered questions.”

Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said Enca reader called him with information on the suspect’s whereabouts. The province assigned a team of detectives who followed up on the information and arrested him. Masondo said the 47-year-old man is charged with kidnapping.
