A man was apprehended in the Johannesburg CBD after a 27-year-old woman that he had allegedly assaulted and raped earlier this month spotted him.
The woman alerted police, who quickly apprehended the man.
The woman was walking along Noord Taxi Rank on November 7 when the 24-year-old man approached her, according to police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele.
"He pointed a gun at her and told her to follow him to an unidentified building in Johannesburg's CBD, where he raped her and stole R500 from her wallet," Mbele said.
On Monday, while walking through the city, the woman spotted the man who attacked her and alerted police officers patrolling the area.
On the corner of Bree and Rissik Streets, the man was apprehended and charged with rape and armed robbery.
On Wednesday, he will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.
