SABC cash crisis worsens - but government says strict conditions must be  met before bailout


It has been reported that the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has been broken into this past weekend. This is something that made some of their employees concerned about their safety. Since people prepare to work in a great environment without any hiccups. According to the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Bloemfontein is currently busy with investigations following the SABC was damaged. There has been a case of business burglary, trespassing, malicious damage to property and intimidation which is linked to the SABC premises based in Bloemfontein. The Parkweg police were able to arrest a 27-year-old man in the morning and he's currently facing different charges associated with what occurred at SABC.

It is believed that a security officer at the SABC building requested back-up from his colleagues after realising that there was an intruder inside the building. According to reports, the suspect was violent towards the security officers as he attacked them as he was trying to escape the SABC building. However, one of the security was able to stand tall and fight the intruder. That's when the security officer allegedly shot the suspect with his firearm.

The incident was confirmed by the SABC spokeswoman Gugu Ntuli as she stated that the intrude did break into their Bloemfontein based office in the morning and vandalised the property. Even though there were still people working, but no-one got hurt within the offices. "On confrontation, a fight broke out, and a Security officer fired a shot at the suspect, injuring his lower body. The suspect was taken to Pelonomi Hospital. No security officer or SABC employees on duty sustained any injuries during the incident. The SABC commends its security officers for containing the situation and preventing further damage to its staff and property," said Ntuli speaking to the media.
