6 Ways To Make Him Regret Taking You For Granted | I Am Woman - Hear Me Roar

There is one sure thing that narcissists, players and all of the other manipulators are really good at and that is taking people for granted. It’s in their nature most of the time to think only about themselves and put their needs before others’. It’s also in their nature to expect you to keep giving all of yourself to them without doing anything in return. The word reciprocity simply doesn’t exist in their dictionary and contrary to them, the majority of women are the exact opposite. We would give them everything we had and even more while deliberately depriving ourselves of happiness, only to be taken for granted. That is precisely why it’s time for you to take things into your own hands and make him regret not appreciating everything you’ve done for him. It’s time for you to demand respect and make him regret not treating you the way you deserve and these six ways will help you achieve it.

1. Acknowledge His Bad Behaviour

When something pisses you off, simply tell him. It’s as easy as that. Do not stay silent or ignore his bad words or actions, no matter what. Women have been silent for too long and now is the time to start speaking. If you know that his behaviour is selfish and just not right, tell him. Acknowledge his crap to his face so that he knows you’re not a fool and you will not stay indifferent to his mistreatment. You owe yourself that much.

2. Refrain From Going Out Of Your Way To Improve His Life

Stop going out of your way to make him happy when you see that he’s not trying to do the same for you. Let him know that you’re no longer the same person who used to give all of yourself only to appease him. When he sees that you’ve changed, he’ll realise that maybe it is because of him. Maybe you stopped doing things you were usually doing because you’re sick of him not appreciating it. It’s the only way for him to realise the mistake of his selfish nature.

3. Set Rules

The most important thing is to set rules and strictly stick to them. If you’re not happy with how he’s been treating you, set rules that will tell him you will no longer tolerate any of his ignorance. When he sees that you have boundaries and you will not buy any of his excuses anymore, he will know that it’s time to change or he will lose you. Protect yourself and your own happiness because you deserve to be his priority and not an option. You deserve to be treated the same way you treat others.

4. Let Him Know You're Capable Of Doing Fine On Your Own

Letting him know that you’re perfectly fine without him will make him realise that you have other priorities as well. Having fun without him is the best thing you can do for yourself at the moment. So, don't allow yourself to waste your time figuring out what to do to make him stop taking you for granted. Live your life in the present and he will start fearing that if he continues treating you so, he might lose the best thing he ever had.

5. Keep Your Dignity Intact

Never, ever chase him. No matter what happens, know that it is not your fault and you are not the one who should go out of your way and beg for his attention or, even worse, to think that you should change. The only thing you should be doing is holding your head up high and not giving a damn about him until he starts giving you signs that he’s determined to change himself. Walk proudly, talk proudly and refuse to receive anything other than what you deserve.

6. Make Sure He Knows That If He Doesn't Appreciate You, Someone Else Will

Give him some time to prove to you that he’s willing to make an effort and work on his treatment toward you. If he still doesn’t do anything about it, then let him know if he’s not ready to appreciate what he has, somebody else surely will. You should never allow yourself to make him think that you will dance to his tune no matter what. You should never allow yourself to be satisfied with mediocrity because you deserve greatness. Never forget that.
