Rape Obscene

" My uncle raped me. Sad thing, he broke my virginity " (OPINION)

It is so sad how the people we trust the most can end up being people who take advantage of us. There is a quote that says "being family means you are part of being something wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life no matter what" and another quote that says "families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter". These quotes mean nothing to people who have been molested by their family members.

People on social media were left in despair yesterday when a lady named Zinhle Diko posted that her uncle is the one who broke her virginity. This comes after someone asked, "who broke your virginity?". Don't get this wrong, Zinhle wasn't in a relationship with her uncle when she lost her virginity. He only took advantage and forced himself on her because she was still young at the time.

She still remembers the incident and sometimes she get flashback memories.

After someone rapes you do not wash yourself or throw away your clothes, no matter how much you want to. There might be hair, blood or semen on your body or clothes that can be used as evidence of the rape. Put your clothes in a paper bag.

If you were drunk or stoned at the time of the rape: Don’t let that stop you from reporting the matter and getting medical treatment - being intoxicated is not a crime, rape is!

Children who have been abused by a family member are more likely to blame themselves for the abuse than those who are abused by someone outside the family unit. The mind and body interact on every level. The ripple effect of early childhood trauma has more than psychological effects. Biology of the brain and immune function are influenced. When trauma and stress happen early in life, the effects are far more profound and long-lasting.
