Gender-based violence is a phenomenon deeply rooted in gender inequality, and continues to be one of the most notable human rights violations within all societies.
Gender-based violence is violence directed against a person because of their gender. Both women and men experience gender-based violence but the majority of victims are women and girls.
A young lady on Twitter left people in disbelief this evening. She shared pictures of how she was assaulted by her boyfriend and her boyfriend's Sugar mama. This young lady's username on Twitter is LubanziNkhosi.
In the picture she shared, her hair was removed and her knees were wounded. She also shared the picture she captured before she was assaulted.
"She put a brick on me, plucked out my hair whilst he held me down and beat me."
There were mixed reactions on the comments as people shared their different thoughts and asked questions. A young man asked how she got assaulted.
They also asked why she still calls him, her boyfriend.
The young woman further said that her boyfriend is not picking up when she tries to call him. It is alleged that they should appear in court this week. They put it GBV and DCS.
They adviced the young lady to open a case against them.
Experiencing any form of GBV can result in trauma, and it is essential that you take care of yourself before you decide to do anything else.
If the violence occurs between people who are in a relationship, a protection order can be applied for under the Domestic violence Act. Share what you think about this issue on the comment section. You can also share with your friends, relatives, family and loved ones.
