Rest in peace Anton and Nikki. Death should not be proud of the way it took you away

Nikki and Anton

It's heartbreaking to note that a newly engaged couple had to die in a painful manner before they could even get married. The 41-year-old Anton van der Spuy, his 41-year-old fiance Nikki Louw and their daughter Ashleigh reportedly lost their lives as a result head-on collision along Klipheuwel Road. It took place over the weekend, cutting short a countdown towards a wedding that had been set to happen.

Death is devastating and heartbreaking as it takes away all the joy, leaving loved ones with nothing but memories. Even though it was not revealed what led to the accident, human error will not be ruled out.

However, looking at how the couple was described, it was evident that they were kind people who were lovable. A lesson that has been learned from this tragedy is that the future is not guaranteed to anyone.

Therefore, people need to treat each day as if it is the last day on earth. The year 2020 and 2021 has taught the world that life is too short to make long-term plans. The important thing is to treat people around you with love and respect.

Even though life may be too short, what you do during that period can help one to build a legacy that will forever be embraced. Nikki for example was described as someone who would brighten up any room, hence the reason why she will be missed more.

She built a legacy for herself that will forever be remembered by those who had an opportunity to experience her kindness and openness. Even though friends and relatives may be devasted about their deaths, the memories the couple built will inspire others to be kind and loving.

If you were to die today, would you be remembered like Nikki and Anton?
